'Mitre te atakura' shows Mitre dressed in her red tips of dawn, te ata kura, on a rare and beautifully clear, still, Milford morning. The name of 'Mitre te atakura', comes from a well known Māori karakia or blessing used in Aotearoa New Zealand to open meetings and other important events. This non religious blessing talks of the start of the day using the beautiful Māori language phrase ‘te ata kura’ meaning the red tipped dawn.
