Blankwallnz is run by me, Anne - the windywalka, based in Wellington our capital city and in Wānaka a small mountain town in the deep south of Aotearoa.
It all started with a deep love for Aotearoa, New Zealand. The wild landscapes, the unique wildlife, and the moody solitude of wild places.
It wasn’t until I lived a busy city life that I realised how much I missed having a connection with New Zealand wilderness every day.
I wanted a way to bring what I saw, the real wild Aotearoa, into my home. I couldn’t find what I wanted and I knew there had to be others like me who craved the same.
It wasn’t easy. I set out to create something unique: a collection that tells the story of our amazing land, its wildlife, and the way it makes me feel.
This took years! It's been a big effort lugging 'proper' camera gear on my tramps, but I'm so happy coming home with images to share.
I finally made the call to launch my Blankwallnz shop and I’ve sold my first wall art.
My mission is to connect wilderness lovers with New Zealand wilderness.
I'm thrilled that you’re part of this journey with me and I hope I can bring a little piece of wild into your everyday life.

About windywalka
In Aotearoa New Zealand, wind is a near constant presence, ideas for many windywalka images are formed during windy walks with camera in hand. Some images are opportunistic, but many are captured after observing patterns over time. Windywalka images harness the emotions of local and remote wild places of Aotearoa; patterns in our plants, in our stormy waters and skies. They capture moments of rare and everyday wildlife and quirky urban views in Aotearoa and worldwide.
Anne, the windywalka.
and Blankwallnz owner
The windywalka logo is a silhouette of Mount Gold, it is a personal favourite that can be seen from Wānaka. The original image can be seen in full colour as an incredible storm front hits. Look for @windywalka facebook and instagram.
